I seem to knit much better without the pressure of the Ravelympics so my WIP Wrestling was abandoned for these…

So I’m noticing that some of you are actually producing gorgeous finished knits as opposed to simply casting on a ridiculous number of lovely lacy items to add to your WIP bin. Hmmmm.Â
Well, since I’m operating with a self-control deficiency, I’m fessing up with 2 more cast-ons. First the Hedera Socks I started today.Â

It’s a fun, addictive pattern… and I have a pretty good track record with socks so far this summer so I’m optimistic about these.
And here is the beginning of the Sea & Shells Stole I finally settled on for my DIC Baby. The beauty of Dream in Color yarn really goes unnoticed until you begin to knit with it. I just adore the rich variations in color and have great visions of it wrapped just so around my shoulders come winter.Â

It’s just a good thing winter isn’t visiting So Cal any time soon.
I’d like to propose “Finish It Up Fall” as a follow up to this Season of Lace or I just may drown in a tangled web of lace and pointy needles.

Now that “Whichy” has finally solve my password problem (THANK YOU), I’m having fun posting this afternoon! This year, I joined the All Raveled Up Sock group and purchased a year’s worth of very cool sock yarn, coming one month at a time, from Blue Hands Fiber. The owner/dye-er Tonk donated part of the proceedsd to Ravelry (way cool!) and is naming the sock yarns–so far I have three yarns–Mascot (named for Bob), CodeMonkey, and Mama Rav, two of which are just sitting in my stash, calling to me. But I cast-on Mascot to make Judy-Bob Mascot socks, shown here. Finished the first one this weekend and cast-on the second–not colors I would normally chose, but hey, I think they’re pretty neat!

I finished my first Spring Forward sock and have cast on immediately for the second. I absolutely adore this pattern.

Greeting lace lovers from the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee! I just received word that I can play along with SOL 2008 even though I missed the deadline for registering for the blog. Hey, I was on vacation
I’m a confirmed lace knitting addict and plan to spend the summer knitting lace along with the Tour de France and the Beijing Olympics. To each his/her own sport!
I took inventory of my current & planned lace projects to identify those eligible for the contests and competitions. I keep a journal documenting the progress of all my knitting, so I know exactly how much knitting I had completed on June 21st, our official start date for this party. I also post fairly detailed notes on my project pages at Ravelry (ID: beadntat) Here’s what I have cast-on and in progress right now:
First up is Evelyn Clark’s Flower Basket Shawl (med. lace) knit in a powder blue Misti Alpaca Lace yarn on size 4 needles. I’m leading a summer KAL at my LYS for this shawl. The cast-on party was May 29th. I have lots of newbie lace knitters in the KAL so I’ve been helping more than I’ve been knitting on my own project. I had 2 repeats of the Lower Flower Basket chart done on the 21st and I’m on the 5th repeat now. I still need to take photos of this project, but I’ll let you know when I have them ready to share.
Next is a pair of No Purl Monkey socks (wee, socks) knit in an almost fluorescent lime and turquoise shade of Colinette Jitterbug. These were cast-on at a KIP event on WWKIP day (June 16) at a gathering of the Rustic Tarts and Old Farts Lace Knitting group in Martinsburg, WV. We were sitting in the rockers at a Cracker Barrel before & after dinner–FUN! I had the cuff of one sock done on the 21st and I’m working on the foot of the 2nd sock today. Here is a photo of the 1st sock in my daisy patch at home: http://www.flickr.com/photos/beadntat/2628683492/
Like several other SOL 08 knitters, I’m also working on the Goddess Knits Anniversary Shawl. I’ve named my version Steph’s Geraniums (large) in honor of my sister as I cast-on on June 29th, the anniversary of her death 29 years ago. Geraniums were among her favorite flowers, so it is fitting that my shawl is knit from ColourMart cashmere 2/28 that matches the geraniums growing on my deck. I’m up to row 16 of Clue 4D –not bad for a late start! All the details are on Ravelry and the latest photos are on the SOL Flickr page and here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/beadntat/2643594109/
I’m thrilled to knitting lace with you this summer. I apologize for the long-winded post, but I hope I brought everyone up to date with what I’m knitting. Knit on!

I cast on for a new pair of socks yesterday! They were originally supposed to be the Waving Lace socks, from IK’s Favorite Socks book, but I was having some . . . um . . . technical difficulties (okay, I forgot to actual read the chart and just did what I thought the pattern said, instead), and so have created variation on the pattern. Because I moved the yo’s, rather than leaving them more stationary, the fabric isn’t biasing the way it should. But I like it, so I’m going to stick with it, anyway.
Does “I screwed up but I”m too lazy to frog” count as “I designed it myself?”
eta: ha! I think I’ve managed to actually post a photo! yippee! (it’s the little things . . . )

Hi, My name is Julie and I am new to lace knitting. I have finally started my Mystic Light shawl and I want to finish that this summer. I am enjoying working on it so far even if I haven’t made it past Row 31 yet! I want to work on the Goddess Knits Anniversary Shawl this summer as well. I had started a pair of lace socks that I had to frog — should never have tried to work on the heel with a migraine! I want to start those over and finish them this time. Other than that, we will just see how it goes.
