Anyway, my last cast-on for the season was for Hyrna Herborgar with some Handmaiden Mini Maiden in Cedar. I haven’t gotten too far yet, but LOVE the yarn and the pattern.

Thanks for the inspiration ladies!

Now will you keep the blog open for “Finish It Fall”?

I downloaded the final clue for the edging. That on is probably going to take a while since I have never done a knitted on lace edging. I’m thinking about frogging what little I have done on the yellow shawl I started. I’m not sure I want to devote the time to a second round shawl right now. I’m thinking that the yellow would look good on another shawl from the Wrapped in Comfort book. I know I will eventually do another round shawl using the Goddess Knits charts, just not right now.

I made some progress on my Arctic Diamonds stole too. I want to get a full pattern repeat done before I take another picture of it. But, it really is coming along nicely. The Diamond pattern is really starting to become visible. I’m very pleased with it.

I hope everyone is doing well!

~Happy Knitting~

I just received word that I can play along with SOL 2008 even though I missed the deadline for registering for the blog. Hey, I was on vacation I’m a confirmed lace knitting addict and plan to spend the summer knitting lace along with the Tour de France and the Beijing Olympics. To each his/her own sport!

I took inventory of my current & planned lace projects to identify those eligible for the contests and competitions. I keep a journal documenting the progress of all my knitting, so I know exactly how much knitting I had completed on June 21st, our official start date for this party. I also post fairly detailed notes on my project pages at Ravelry (ID: beadntat) Here’s what I have cast-on and in progress right now:

First up is Evelyn Clark’s Flower Basket Shawl (med. lace) knit in a powder blue Misti Alpaca Lace yarn on size 4 needles. I’m leading a summer KAL at my LYS for this shawl. The cast-on party was May 29th. I have lots of newbie lace knitters in the KAL so I’ve been helping more than I’ve been knitting on my own project. I had 2 repeats of the Lower Flower Basket chart done on the 21st and I’m on the 5th repeat now. I still need to take photos of this project, but I’ll let you know when I have them ready to share.

Next is a pair of No Purl Monkey socks (wee, socks) knit in an almost fluorescent lime and turquoise shade of Colinette Jitterbug. These were cast-on at a KIP event on WWKIP day (June 16) at a gathering of the Rustic Tarts and Old Farts Lace Knitting group in Martinsburg, WV. We were sitting in the rockers at a Cracker Barrel before & after dinner–FUN! I had the cuff of one sock done on the 21st and I’m working on the foot of the 2nd sock today. Here is a photo of the 1st sock in my daisy patch at home: http://www.flickr.com/photos/beadntat/2628683492/

Like several other SOL 08 knitters, I’m also working on the Goddess Knits Anniversary Shawl. I’ve named my version Steph’s Geraniums (large) in honor of my sister as I cast-on on June 29th, the anniversary of her death 29 years ago. Geraniums were among her favorite flowers, so it is fitting that my shawl is knit from ColourMart cashmere 2/28 that matches the geraniums growing on my deck. I’m up to row 16 of Clue 4D –not bad for a late start! All the details are on Ravelry and the latest photos are on the SOL Flickr page and here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/beadntat/2643594109/

I’m thrilled to knitting lace with you this summer. I apologize for the long-winded post, but I hope I brought everyone up to date with what I’m knitting. Knit on!

Kristina

I kept having “issues” with my goddess knits mystery shawl. I’m going for attempt number (I lost track) on magic loop this evening after work. I was doing great on Saturday evening, until I pulled the needle out the wrong direction and dumped all my lovely stitches! Oh the tears! After the arguement settled with the yarn and neeldes, we decided to part ways for the weekend and pick back up on Monday.

I did cast on and get a fairly decent start on an Arctic Diamonds stole from the Arctic Lace book. I’m knitting it up in Knit Picks Shadow Snorkel. I love this color!

I got the beginning edge done and am working on the main pattern rows now. That was a boost in confidence. Depending on how the mystery shawl goes, I may be working more on Arctic Diamonds tonight. I’ll have some pictures posted this evening, I need to transfer them off my camera.

I signed up for the most yardage knitted. This weekend put me behind I know, but I’ll do my best to catch up! I’ll probably also enter some of my individual projects into the size competitions. I hope everyone else is having a great time knitting their lace! I can’t wait to start seeing pictures rolling in!

~~Happy Knitting~~

I have spun the yarn I shall need (pictures are in a folder marked Seasons of Lace in Flickr if anyone wants a peek, or it’s listed in my stash on Ravelry). I have yet to decide on a pattern though as I tend to make my own up as I go along (not quite as vague as it sounds, promise!) Well here I am and if I’ve not done this right I’m sure someone will tell me!

Happy knitting all

I’m so proud of it. My first real lace shawl. I’m wearing at work as I type. I don’t think the guys I work with are as impressed with my knitting art as they should be. Oh well.

I must say that I am really looking forward to the season of lace. I’m doing my best to hold off on starting another lace project. I think I pretty much have everything lined up and ready to roll on the 21st, now it’s just a matter of waiting. Waiting has never been my strong suit. I’m usually more of an instant gratification kind of gal. That said, I must say that lace is definately worth the wait and effort. I loved watching my bigfoot shawl grow over the past month. And I especially loved seeing the transformation from a clump of lacy goodness into a beautiful shawl ready to be worn and shown off. It was just amazing.

If you had told me two years ago that I would be knitting lace, and that my lace projects would actually turn out to be beautiful, I would have laughed at you. But now, I’m more inlove with knitting than I have ever been. It is so amazing to create something that looks so intricate and difficult to make. We all truly are artist in our own right.

To all you other artists out there…….Happy Knitting!

I got so excited about knitting all the lace that I just had to start a lace shawl projects to keep my sanity in check until June. I have been working the Bigfoot Shawl from the book “Wrapped in Comfort: Knitted Lace Shawls” by Alison Jeppson Hyde. I just love this book! Every pattern is just so beautiful, and there is atleast one pattern for every skill level. Being fairly new to lace weight yarn and shawls I decided to go with one of the easy skill levels. I’m around 50% complete on this shawl. I’m on the second of two hanks of Oregon Coast Heather from Knit Picks. This yarn is so pretty, and combining the yarn with the bigfoot pattern has been very successful! I am very pleased with the way it is turning out. I can’t wait to get it complete and blocked! I’m thinking that I might be able to finish up the shawl before the season of lace begins; I might be pushing it though. The pattern knits up pretty fast, the body is only a 4 row repeat. Here’s a link to a photo: Oregon Coast Bigfoot. I haven’t figured out how to get flickr to work with wordpress to insert photos as of yet. I’ll have to read up on that.

I hope everyone else is enjoying their warm up knitting, I know I am!

~Happy Knitting~
