Posting & Comment Help
Posting Guidelines
- Please come and post, we want to hear about your projects!
- You have to register for the site to create a post.
- You do not need to register to comment.
- If you don’t see your comment appear right away, please be patient, your first comment will be moderated, we’ll approve all non-spam comments as soon as we can.
- There are links in the side bar for registering and the admin section. Admin is where you can create posts.
- We have created a basic set of categories, and a bunch of ones to match contest/raffle categories. Feel free to add ones to match the contents of your posts.
- We unfortunately can’t host images for everyone. Please do not upload your photos through the blog software. Please do show us what you are working on, by hosting your photos online, and then adding them in through the posting interface. We recommend using a photo hosting service like Photobucket, Flickr, or Picasaweb.
- Get yourself a little free love. Add a link to your blog in the links section - make sure you add it to the category Author.
Tips for Commentors
- Always use the same account/email address when making comments. This will keep your posts out of the moderators queue.
- You can reply directly to any comment by clicking the reply link on the title line of the comment.
- Comments are threaded - so if you comment on a comment they will be shown in a hierarchy.
- If you are signed up for a Gravatar, your posts and comments will show up with your icon.
Posting Help
To create a post
- Register for the site
- Click on the link to the admin section in the right hand tool bar
- Login
- Click on the Tab “Write”
- It will open a blank new message - start typing.
- There are two options for how to format your post, HTML and Visual.
- Visual is a WYSIWYG editor and will allow you to write/edit and or format a post with the aid for formatting buttons.
- HTML allows you to edit the code behind the post for fine tune tweaking.
- I recommend starting with Visual editing, and only dropping to HTML if you really know what you are doing and are a control freak.
- Once you have completed writing your post, and adding pictures, choose what categories to add to your post.
- Click on the publish button and you are live!
To add a picture to your post -
- Find the URL (web address) of the picture you wish to add
- Go to website where your image is hosted (Flickr, Picassa, Gallery2 etc.).
- Navigate to the image you would like to post to the site.
- In IE: Right click on the image and choose properties, in the properties window copy the line after Address (URL):. If the line is 2 rows long make sure you get the whole thing from the http:// to the end of the file extension.
- If you have Firefox, right click on the image you want and choose Copy Image Location
- In the tool bar of the posting interface click on the icon for the “Insert/Edit image” button - the icon looks like this –>

- Insert/edit images window will pop up, and paste your Image URL right into the interface.
- Click on the Appearance tab to see options for sizing and tweaking how your image fits into your layout.
- Click the insert button on the bottom of the Insert/edit image box. Now you picture has been added!
- You can add as many pictures this way as you’d like.
- Tip: I do this in a browser with tabs - so I can browse Flickr and get my image info, and then just flip over to the post I am writing in another tab and insert the photo.
- Tip: If the picture is too big, you can resize it by dragging one of the corners.
