I won a gift certificate from Needleworks!  Shadowdancer helped me pick the yarns, shopping for me over the phone.  She did a great job! edit–sorry about the black spots, they’re on my camera lens, not the yarn!!

Quantity Competitons - and their Winners (updated)

No Gravatar

Drum roll please.

Ladies and Gentlemen, as we promised before the Summer Season began,  today we announce the results of our Quantity Competitions.

For the Competition for the Most Small Items Knit (in which we defined "Small Item" to mean an item that took at least 350 and no more than 700 yards to complete), we had 14 original competitors.  Some of them were overcome by startitis, and thus did not record any finished objects, having been buried under a flurry of lacy goodness to the point where they just couldn’t choose one thing.  (I so recognize this condition!!)  Others were lured by the temptations of lace in other sizes, and found themselves finishing things that were either too large or too small to qualify for this competition.  And, unfortunately, some were beset by life, and had to withdraw from the competition.

Of the remaining five, one was sidetracked by her prodigious output for the yardage competition.  None-the-less, she registered a solid 6 items.  Had she been allowed to count her yardage related entries for both projects, that number would have been higher…

Our runner up, with 10 items was marinemom (if only those dishcloths had been bigger, she’d have tied for first!).

And the winner, with 12 documented finished items in the small lace category?

nolaboard! Congratulations nolaboard!  You’ve won….

a $50.00 Gift Certificate from

Next up in this awards "ceremony,"  the heated competition for the most yards knit of yarn into lace in a single season.  We started the season with 37 hopefuls.  Some of them decided to stick to a single competition, instead of trying to work on high yardage counts AND churning out small items whose yardage would not count in this competition.  Others found themselves lured away by cables, or by textured socks.  And some, alas, were also beset by life. In the end, we have an even dozen competitors.

tinker came in third, with an impressive 6,893 yards of yarn converted into lace.

littlelena is our runner up.  She managed to knit 8,246 yards of yarn into lace.  For this amazing feat, she wins the second place prize of a kit for the delicate silk scarf "Whisp of Summer" .

and finally, our winner , who will be enjoying a

Congratulations! to our winners!

We hope you’ll post about what you’ve bought with your winnings!

The judged awards will take a bit more time.  We seem to still be collecting nominations, and then we have to give our esteemed panel of judges time to consider the nominees.

While we wait for the Judge’s decisions….— RAFFLES.

And…. a chance to vote for your favorite of the Viewers Choice Nominees!

Oh…. finally, for the record,  Here are the final rankings for all competitors posting numbers for these Competitions:

And the Prize Processing Goes forward…

Greetings one and all.

I’m sitting here with my spreadsheets and all the entry forms, making sure that I have all of the entries in, and that my data is accurate.  For clarification, and so that I really do award the prizes to the competition winners, I’d like to verify the following things:

The following folks once stated that they intended to participate in the Most Small Items Knit competition. Those whose names are bolded are folks from whom I have Final Submissions (and indeed other supporting data).  The rest of you are folks for whom I have no competition entry data.  If you did want to compete, you have until Sunday, September 28 at noon CST to get your posts up and your competition forms in. UPDATE: Those whose withdrawals I’ve received are stricken out (so you can confirm I got your messages)

I also have littlelena and KnatteringKnitter who didn’t originally sign up for that competition, but for whom I have yardage information.

If you intended to compete, NOW is the time to get that information to us!

Please be sure to post a summing up post (with pictures of all the goodies) and a total count (yardage or number of small (e.g.350-700 yds) items)), and to include a link to that post in your final competition submission.

I went to a family gathering yesterday not realizing the date for final submission was the 23rd. While there, I cast on another lace dishcloth so I’d have something to keep my hands busy while we sat around chatting. (Many of us ladies are in the habit of bringing piecework.)  Anyway, here is a photo of it I took after I got back home :)

Christmas Lace Cast on

The pattern is called Christmas Lace Dishcloth and the yarn is Sugar and Cream.
