I finally decided on my 1st project for SOL: the Mystic Meadows shawl by Anna Dalvi (http://knitandknag.blogspot.com/), using some 100% silk I found in Kyoto a few years ago. The yarn was dyed to be used for weaving a kimono or obi, but was either an extra skein, or a mistake. In any case, it’s been in stash, waiting for the right project.
I wound the yarn using a swift and baller, but the ball got so big it flopped around a bit, so I took it off the baller to finish by hand - and this is what I got. There are so many tangles, and the yarn is so thin, I’ve managed to make some progress, but I don’t see me starting to actually knit for a while longer.

I’ve finally found the time to put my head above the parapet on this blog. I’m Di from Devon - Yarnzie on Ravelry - and have been bitten hard by the lace bug. I have so many lace things (all shawls) that I want to knit that its going to take me a time to sort out what I want to do for this KAL. Certainly, finishing my Tiger’s Eye Stole will be on the list, which I stopped because I broke a needle. That meant I started something else while I was waiting to get the new needle, and poor old Tiger’s Eye has been in time out ever since. He sits there staring balefully me from his project bag - so he’s a definite.
Currently, I’m working on Large Rectangle with Diamond Pattern Centre from Victorian Lace Today. I was doing really well but yesterday I tripped over the yarn and pulled the whole lot out! And because I’d been cocky careless, I didn’t have a lifeline to save me. Fourteen pattern repeats bit the dust! Depending on where I am with that when we start, that might have to take precedence.
I’d like to do two more projects as well -perhaps the Wool Peddler’s Shawl in time for autumn, and something else maybe from VLT.
Ideas above my station? Yeah, possibly!
