wrapping up

For once, I’ve had a successful KAL!  Despite past tradition of not knitting along, I manged to knit lace (and only lace!) successfully all summer.  I even managed to sneak in one last completion:

Pattern: Pear and Trellis (Knitspot)

Yarn:Colourmart Cashmere/Silk 3/45NM Laceweight, worked with two strands together

Needles: 3.0mm/ U.S. 2-1/2

In addition to two other completed projects, I . . . → Read More: wrapping up Read more »

My first shawl

Believe it or not, this shawl has less than 350 yards of luscious wool/silk yarn – details of which can be seen at my Ravelry link.

I couldn’t believe it knitted up so quickly!  I will be tackling another shawl . . . → Read More: My first shawl Read more »

LLR’s Lace Disaster!

I was almost finished… only about twenty more rows to go.

I was going to be able to finish this scarf in time to give it to my sister for her birthday….

The yarn had surprised me by just being wonderful!  Easy to work with…soft…scrunchy…

And then….

I realized my puppy was in the house….

Where was she….

Oh no!

I ran to . . . → Read More: LLR’s Lace Disaster! Read more »

Some “man-lace” for my sister!

Please don’t tell my sister that David describes his Martian Scarf as “man-lace.”  I gave it to her for her birthday (in August) and I think the tailored style will go well with many of her business suits.   I had originally planned on giving her the Green Column of Leaves – to go with her dark . . . → Read More: Some “man-lace” for my sister! A Newbie Wee FO – Amanda hat

I started this hat July 1st.  Here’s my Ravelry link for all the details and extra pictures.  It was definitely a learning experience, but I think I’ll probably actually wear it this Winter!  I call it my Himalaya hat because the yarn is Himalaya Yarn from Tibet!  And it has bits of bright colorful silk thrown . . . → Read More: A Newbie Wee FO – Amanda hat Read more »

il mare oscuro

I didn’t quite get this finished for the Ravelympics deadline, and it took me even longer to block it, but my stole, inspired by the sheen of the yarn and the ideas of water and the sea, is finally finished.

Pattern: My own, composed of motifs from the Barbara Walker stich dictionaries
Yarn: Briar . . . → Read More: il mare oscuro Read more »

The Glamour Shots

Okay, they’d be much more glamorous if I’d found a more glamourous looking model, or done something elegant with my hair or….  but whatever, here is Daedelus … free from the blocking board.

I think it looks rather nice simply draping the way it does when you’re not doing bird imitations…
