I consider this my last fo for sol08 as I don´t think my yarn will arrive tomorrow so that i could finish my beaded swallowtail. So here she is, Alhambra. Thanks everyone, this has been an adventure. Hopefully we´ll meet at winter of lace if there is one
Take care!

I’m finding myself moving into winter mode already–thinking more of weaving and knitting plain old mittens, socks, and hats for the children, and of processing all of that food out in the garden for the winter. But I still have three shawls on the needles–four if you count the summer sampler. I’m going to finish that one tonight–I’m determined! so I’ll still be knitting lace. I can’t believe there are only nine days left. I have to find someone with a scale so I can weigh some unfinished projects. Maybe the local grocery ? I am so grateful for the jumpstart this knitalong gave to my knitting. I had missed lace, and have so enjoyed getting into it again. And I have so many projects and patterns lined up. What fun! I’m going to miss checking in all of your projects when this is over–it has really been a bright spot in my life this summer. Thanks to all of you!

My first post - I’m so proud. I’m hiding the lace, however… I kept starting things, and then not liking them with the yarn I was DETERMINED to use (Dream in Color Baby - Dusky Blue - YUM). After 4 starts or so and despairing, an email pops into my box - Melanie of the Mystery Shawls has a new “easy” stole called “Atlantis”. It seems the yarn knew it was coming, and kept foiling me on poipose. Admittedly with not much knitting time, I’m off and going… finally.Â

I went to a friends house today to spin yarn for the first time since last year, when she taught me the basics on the wheel, which her husband built. Amazingly, I remembered how it went, and the creamy wool looks terrific on the bobbin. I’m fairly sure I’m going to be knitting these singles into a lace scarf one of these days–soon. It’s really nice yarn, just as it is. Eventually I’m going to spin fine 2-ply laceweight, but for now I’m happy with my singles. I’m glad about it also because my son has really been wanting to try the wheel out, and now that I have refreshed my memory I can get him started
On the knitting front, I’ve made progress on my MS9 and have finished the second chart on the mandala shawl and moved into section 3 on the veil of Isis. It’s nice not to have deadlines and downtime between pattern sections. After working on the KALs this way of working seems to go much faster for me. Who needs sleep?

I thought I had better check in to add my lace content to our blog. I am still knitting away on my Snowflakes in Cedarwoods shawl. I’m currently on row 17 of section G which means I still have a long way to go! I have 776 stitches on the needles and my rows are going slower. I’ll post a photo soon, my lace looks like a blueish white blob and I will not see the fruit of my labor until I take it off the needle and block. It’s been a long hot summer in my house! Alison

I keep waiting to take pictures to do a post but I’m clearly not getting that done…
I am bummed. It seems the summer of lace is almost over and I’ve got almost NOTHING to show for it.
I am almost done with Icarus, but I ran out of yarn and am waiting for the custom dye to be ready.Â
I am still trying to get started on the new Guenivere pattern by NeoKnits but the swatching process is interminable and I keep having to start over. I have to get THREE gauges for this to work.
I didnt touch Irfta’a all summer.
I just started up the Zetor again on the off chance I’ll actually get that done to have something to show for “Summer of Lace”
Grump…anyone else way more behind than they thought they’d be?Â
I’m laughing now at having entered the yardage competition!
PS: ok, I did just realize I got 1 shawl done for the Wrapped in Care. So I have that at least…

Man, I haven’t posted since the beginning… It’s been the season of the kids out of school for me! LOLÂ Â Who knew that summer would be so busy?
But… I did finish my first ever lace project AND I’m entering it in the State Fair (and this is Texas, so that is HUGE!) It doesn’t count for the Seasons of lace because I was more than halfway done when we started here… but I have to show it off. This is my Little Princess modeling. She wants to know when I will make her one! LOL

I’m also working on some lace socks, but I can’t show those yet because they are a secret swap gift. I have to mail them Sept 1, so Ill post them after that.

I am plugging away at my anniversary shawl, and my muir shawl. It is taking longer than I thought on the first, and I am using cobweb lace on the second, so it is slower than I thought, but I think I will be happy with both of them. This is so much fun! I have just loved having so much lace on the needles this summer. Here is a picture showing progress on the anniversary shawl. I have it folded over itself, since my needles are too small to really show it well. It is really 3 feet across already, and I am on row 22 of clue 4. Someday, I will get it done! I have loved putting beads in it, and seeing them wink in the fabric.

It is done (or rather it was done on Saturday, but I had to wait till I weighed it to know how much yarn I used).

That is 1388 yards of lace (according to the shipping scale at work and my l33t conversion skills). I held the yarn double throughout, so mods, you may want to halve that. Or not, your choice. And feel free to give props to my mother’s awesome picture taking skills, or alternately the garden she planted that seems to make everything look good.
To celebrate, I cast on
Yes, that may be the worst picture of an Adamas shawl ever. In my defense, I was rushing to work at the time and it’s less than an inch. I’m on the second row of the first chart, not very far along, but I was kinda knitted out after the final push to finish the shawl.

Hi all, this is my first post. I’m kinda slow off the starting line, though I have been knitting.
I started the Summer Sampler Study KAL hosted by BadCat Designs, about 3 weeks after the KAL started. I haven’t done too badly, considering I took most of a week off for 4th of July preparations and family reunion. I love this project. I’m new to lace, and this is really great, a new lace pattern every week!

Here is my only pic to date…but I’m now 2 charts past that. I’ll have to get a current photo taken!
