I went to a family gathering yesterday not realizing the date for final submission was the 23rd. While there, I cast on another lace dishcloth so I’d have something to keep my hands busy while we sat around chatting. (Many of us ladies are in the habit of bringing piecework.)Â Anyway, here is a photo of it I took after I got back home

The pattern is called Christmas Lace Dishcloth and the yarn is Sugar and Cream.

I can’t believe summer is over and fall is here already. Although I did not meet all my lacey goals I’m happy with what I did get done - I’ve just been really bad with updating anything lately. Sooo with that…
My most recently finished item is my Melon Shawl done in Dream In Color Baby.

and my long ago finished item is my trellis lace scarf.

Then there is my man I was this close to finishing, but I ran out of yarn, did a freaky frogging and ended up at the half way mark again flutter scarf. Yes, we had a wee bit of trouble. It’s all straightened out now but she’s still waiting on the sidelines because my heart is just not in it.

I think one of the reasons this got to me so bad is that I also had a yarn shortage happen with the melon shawl. Thankfully, with the aide of Ravelry, I was able to get the few yards needed to finish that - I didn’t even try with the flutter scarf. I figured I would just rip back a bit and make it shorter, but I entered this black hole of still not enough. I must have ripped back at least three times, each time being more that the last, and still would come up short, and I only needed enough for a few rows. So darn frustrating. In a fit I went crazy to make sure I had enough, and I guess I over did it. I blame it on Olympic Knitting stress
My just started lace project is the lace ribbon scarf Not much done yet, but I’m sure enjoying it.

- Ribbon Lace scarf = 7 yards
- Flutter scarf = 240 yards
- Melon Shawl = 735 yards
- Trellis lace =180 yards
- Branching Out = 250 yards
For a total of 1,412 yards knitted. No prize winner by any means but I still had a ton of fun
Tammy Knits on Sep 20th 2008 Casting On!

Well, I wish there was some sort of award for casting on because I think I’d have a shot at that. I definitely have more lace than I can handle on the needles. But I’ve really enjoyed seeing all the beautiful posts here and it has definitely encouraged me to indulge and enjoy knitting (well starting) some scarves and shawls. I had pretty much abandoned scarves after my initial six months of fun fur scarves but I have a whole new appreciation for them now. Unfortunately our So Cal climate is not very cooperative… but that doesn’t seem to stop me.
Anyway, my last cast-on for the season was for Hyrna Herborgar with some Handmaiden Mini Maiden in Cedar. I haven’t gotten too far yet, but LOVE the yarn and the pattern.

Thanks for the inspiration ladies!
Now will you keep the blog open for “Finish It Fall”?Â

I just started this a couple of weeks ago. It’s a fast easy pattern. I’m planning on giving it as a gift to a very fair complexioned, blue eyed, blonde lady. Do you think this red will look good on that type of coloring? I hope so. You can see all the project details here.

I’m going to squeeze in one last wee little project.
I had this lone ball of Hayfield Kimono lying about the house with nowhere to go.
It’s perfect for a little something for a dear friend of mine who is suffering from cancer. I’m pleased at finding the perfect project for this yarn. I’m pleased at having found something good to knit for my friend. I’m not so pleased that she’s going to need it…. but I’m trying to look on the bright side.
Today I spent a bit too much time in the ER for a test that was, well, just an over abundance of caution for some paranoid parents… but at least I’ve made progress…
Yeah, I know that looks like cables.
But the other stuff that’s not stretched out yet? That’s lace.

Remember I got stuck with the test knit? Remember I did run out of yarn with the following wip? You know what helps? Yarn shopping. And then pattern shopping. So here we go again: Alhambra by Anne Hanson at Knitspot. (No it´s not the only pattern I bought) The yarn is from Old maiden Aunt and it is 70% baby alpaca, 20% silk, 10% cashmere so you´ll guess it’s softer than puppy ears to touch. The colourway is called smoky.

I finally decided on a pair of socks for my daughter after purchasing some Panda silk. The name of this pattern is Come Dancing.

These should knit up quickly since she prefers anklets.

This is most likely going to be the last lace item for this “Season”. It is Upstairs by WollSchnegge. I am using the English version of the pattern that is at Ravelry.
I started it Sept 3rd and have been knitting away on it to get it finished. I’m not quite half way done.
The yarn is Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud in the Peppermint colorway. I’m using size 5 needles.
