An unlikely development

I went to a friends house today to spin yarn for the first time since last year, when she taught me the basics on the wheel, which her husband built. Amazingly, I remembered how it went, and the creamy wool looks terrific on the bobbin. I’m fairly sure I’m going to be knitting these singles into . . . → Read More: An unlikely development Read more »

Catching up and Casting on

As usual, the photos will have to wait a day or two, but I am almost caught up with the BadCatDesigns summer sampler study, working on the edging now. I also cast on nother mandala shawl from Goddess Knits. My aunt saw the one I made for my brother’s fiancee and asked if I would make . . . → Read More: Catching up and Casting on Read more »

Pictures at last–the skirt

I’m very pleased with my skirt. It has a lovely drape and feel, and it goes well over at least two of my options. The skirt that looks white is actually pale pink, and the contrast is not so shocking in reality–the flash over does it a bit, so I made sure to take a photo . . . → Read More: Pictures at last–the skirt Read more »

Finally a Finished Object!

I finally finished blocking my Goddess Knits Anniversary Mystery Shawl Monday, and managed to get photos taken. It’s done. I used three full skeins of Malabrigo laceweight for a total of 1410 yards for this project. It’s a nice shawl, and I learned to add beads on it, so that was fun. They are clear . . . → Read More: Finally a Finished Object! Read more »

Off to the fair

I’m going to the county fair today, to work in a booth for Project Linus, which provides handmade blankets for children of all ages in difficult circumstances–illness, trauma, you name it. For me this is a chance to knit in the daytime without children around. Ironic? I didn’t get a single piece of lace into the . . . → Read More: Off to the fair Read more »

I did it.

Yes, I actually cast on a pair of lace socks for Ravelympics. I think I’m crazy. I also made it to the edging of my anniversary shawl, and decided to add beads. I’ve passed another 500 yards on that project as well. So now I’m making beaded lace. It’s fun, but can I make my . . . → Read More: I did it. Read more »

Surprised Myself

About two weeks ago I was working away on clue 4 of the anniversary mystery shawl, and realized I didn’t really want to knit the whole of the chart–I was getting bored with it. So I cut it short, moved up an element from earlier in the pattern to replace that which didn’t interest me much, . . . → Read More: Surprised Myself Read more »

Quick update

I’m working along, and am still actually caught up on two out of three KALs. I’ll be casting on a pair of lace socks for the Ravelympics, and have put aside my lace skirt until Friday, so that will qualify for the WIPsWrestling event. So this week I’ll really be putting time in on the Anniversary . . . → Read More: Quick update Read more »

Managing Multiple Projects

I had decided to try to do a little on each project each day, now that they are getting bigger and are slower going. But I can’t do it. I don’t enjoy changing from project to project in one day. I prefer to get a rhythm going on one and make to visible progress. So then . . . → Read More: Managing Multiple Projects Read more »
