wrapping up

For once, I’ve had a successful KAL!  Despite past tradition of not knitting along, I manged to knit lace (and only lace!) successfully all summer.  I even managed to sneak in one last completion:

Pattern: Pear and Trellis (Knitspot)

Yarn:Colourmart Cashmere/Silk 3/45NM Laceweight, worked with two strands together

Needles: 3.0mm/ U.S. 2-1/2

just a little nothing

My “Summer of Startitis” is winding down with another finished project:

Pattern: Elm Row by Anne Hanson
Yarn: Knitting Notions Classic Merino Supersock – this was a very enjoyable yarn to knit with.  It’s very “springy,” and in combination with this pattern, provided an addictive knit…when I wasn’t distracted by other projects!
Needle: 3.25 mm/ U.S. 3

il mare oscuro

I didn’t quite get this finished for the Ravelympics deadline, and it took me even longer to block it, but my stole, inspired by the sheen of the yarn and the ideas of water and the sea, is finally finished.

Pattern: My own, composed of motifs from the Barbara Walker stich dictionaries
Yarn: Briar . . . → Read More: il mare oscuro Read more »

just stopping by…

Thought I’d just pop in and give an update on my Ravelympics project.  I am officially past the halfway point – unfortunately I’m also behind pace for completing by the end of the closing ceremony.  Guess I need to get moving!

At least everything has worked out so far–no frogging and re-figuring.  The size seems to . . . → Read More: just stopping by… Read more »

another post, another cast-on

If I count correctly (which isn’t guaranteed), this is the fifth project I’ve started since June 21st, and I haven’t finished one yet.  For me, it’s been more “Seasons of Startitis” rather than “Seasons of Lace”.  In my defense: this is my Ravelympics project. (OK, yes, I could have opted for WIP Wrestling, but that would . . . → Read More: another post, another cast-on Read more »

another restart

I seem to be doing more thinking about lace than knitting of lace lately, but I hope that’s about to change.  This is my second attempt (the swatch lied…badly) at the Vine Lace Cardigan from A Gathering of Lace. I only have a few rows of the back done so far.  The yarn is Sirdar’s . . . → Read More: another restart Read more »

Another start…again

I keep working on my Elm Row here and there, but I seem to have developed a severe case of startitis.  I’ve started a lacey cardigan that I’m going to have to frog (my swatch lied – I’ll start over, after I’ve done some math – yes, I’m avoiding this), swatched for two stoles, and started . . . → Read More: Another start…again Read more »

getting going

Well, since I haven’t had a good history with KAL’s, I thought I’d at least try to start off on the right foot by posting this first weekend.  I think I’ll be okay this time, though – I have a stack of lace projects and lace yarns just pleading to be knit.   The winner for first . . . → Read More: getting going Read more »

A little warm-up

Well, I’m eager to get started on lace – I have plenty of laceweight yarns calling my name – but I think I’ll try to stick to my warm-up project for now!  I’m working on Anne Hanson’s Pear and Trellis, in a silk-cashmere blend from ColourMart, (2) strands held together on 3.0 mm (US 2.5) needles.  . . . → Read More: A little warm-up Read more »

Can’t wait!

Hi! I’m Amanda, and truth to tell, I’m really bad at KAL’s.  However, I love knitting lace and I have plans for several lace projects in the near future, so I don’t think I can screw this one up! I’m hoping to get several lace projects tackled this summer, including finally starting something from Victorian Lace . . . → Read More: Can’t wait! Read more »
