Adamas shawl

No Gravatar

I finished my Adamas shawl for the Ravelympics! It was in Jojoland Harmony cobweb yarn, and I did 17 repeats of chart 2 instead of the 14 in the pattern. Here’s a close-up of the finished edge, with blue beads.

And here’s my handsome helper who wanted to be in the photo.

Another finished object

I don’t know, I go 2 months without finishing anything and then finish 2 things in the space of a week! i have just finished my foxglove wrap, it was knitted using 2 100g skeins of Caber (wool/bamboo) from The Yarn Yard in a beautiful variagated pink in a the Fir Cone Wrap pattern (but when was the last time you saw pink fir cones!). This is another Christmas present as the pink just isn’t very me, it was a lovely weight and drape to it though.

Please ignore the messy back garden. It’s a rented house, we were promised the garden would be sorted and it never has been.

After this i have no more lace that I’m working on, at least until my new needles arrive as the Kaibashira socks are still hibernating with a pair of broken needles hanging off them! I ordered the needles on Monday so expect them to turn up anytime now.

WIP

I’m on the home stretch on an afghan  for a friend of mine.  I had the 4 white strips done before seasons of lace and have completed the yellow and half of the green now.  I’m using Debbie Bliss cotton cashmere (furnished by my friend) and hate it!!  It’s got a wonderful feel, but it splits like an Olympic gymnist!!  I haven’t used a Debbie Bliss that I’ve liked because of just that.  I know that lots of folks love this yarn, I just don’t!!  I use about 1 1/2 skiens for the green strips and 4-5 skiens for the yellow, so I’ve got about 2000 yards done since SOL started.

This picture doesn’t even start to get the colors right, but I guess you can get the drift.  I’ve got 4 more green strips to do then it gets pieced together!!

Finally!

I just finshed my simple lace wrap done in a handspun merino/silk blend. Yum. Then I have a Column of Leaves scarf that I predict will be finished by tomorrow. Then the weekend is dedicated to finishing my Spring Forward socks from knitty and I’ll work to finish the Dentelle scarf that I started for my aunt’s Chrismas present. Not to mention the clover lace shrug I’ve been working on that I plan to have finished by September 13th. OMG…I’ve been starting more projects than I’ve been finishing! Haha.

OMG…I almost forgot my Goddess Knits Ann. Shawl. Holy cannoli! Does anyone else have a wip situation like mine? :o) I’ll post some pictures of my finished wrap later today.

Lace Ribbon Scarf

It just occurred to me that my latest finished knit qualifies for posting here since it was only 28″ when the Seasons Of Lace started and is 82″ now.   That works right?

It was not my favorite knitting project, but definitely worth it in the end.

Catching up and Casting on

No Gravatar

As usual, the photos will have to wait a day or two, but I am almost caught up with the BadCatDesigns summer sampler study, working on the edging now. I also cast on nother mandala shawl from Goddess Knits. My aunt saw the one I made for my brother’s fiancee and asked if I would make one for her. She agreed to purchase the yarn for two, so I can have some more fun later, and I am making the shawl as a gift. It’s nice to finally be able to do something for her, since she really doesn’t need much that I could offer. I’m fortunate to have a large family–there will always be someone to knit a shawl for. Also, I’m going to finish this post and go cast on for the Veil of Isis. I’m using the red cashmere that was going to be a mandala shawl, but which was not going the way I would have liked. I picked up some size 0 needles, and am going to make a go of this one. Knit on!

Black Olives

This stole reminded me of black olives while I was designing it so that is what I ended up calling it.  It starts with a provisional cast on.  Once the main knitting is done the lace edging is knit sideways on the working end, then unzip the provisional cast on and knit the border on the other side.  It was fun to design and to see it progress.  The blocking really did open everything up a bit more.  The yarn is Pisgah Yarn & Dyeing Co., Inc Article 2025, Rayon Petalspun in Black.  It was a 1680 yd cone.  I’m not exactly sure how much yarn I used…more than half….maybe 3/4’s of the cone.  I used size 5 (3.75mm) bamboo needles.  They were circular…it was what I had available at the time I started the project.

I put more pictures on my Ravelry project page .

So far behind…

I really thought I’d have alot more done this summer than I have.  My Goddess Knits Mystery shawl is only halfway done, I’ve started no socks!  I did finish the scarf and stole for the Yarn Smackdown of August 2008.  Here are the pictures

More socks

No Gravatar

I just can’t get away from the socks!  Mom saw the one I’m doing for me… and asked for some, so I put mine aside to knit hers while she is visiting.  She is diabetic and a dialysis patient so I want to make sure they fit her well.

I’m using the Ridged Feather pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks and On Line Supersocke Cotton Beach Color.  I’m quite pleased with how they are coming out.  They are going quickly, too they are about twice this length now…
