Paralyzed

I’m trying to knit lace.  I really am.  Actually I’m trying to knit many things… “trying” being the key word here.  While I’ve knit quite a bit of the lacy cardigan I started, I’ve been spending most of my time searching for the perfect pattern for this.

Dream in Color Baby “In Vino Veritas”

All the patterns I find seem to require more than the 700 yds I have.  I’d like it to be rectangular, but not a scarf… not too repetitive, fun to knit, wonderful to wear.  Okay, I could do triangular… if it would be smashing in this color.  I’m really pretty flexible.  cough

I’m open to… begging, pleading for… suggestions.

Between obsessing over this and playing with sock yarn, I’ve been quite busy!  It’s wearing me out!

I use Ravelry for problems like this. I tried a search with tags “stole” ,”lace”and “wrap” and yardage less than 700 and here are some of the free ones that came out:

The woodland shawl is good. The bluejeans lace leaf shawl I’m making is only supposed to require 400 yards or so. (I have no idea how much yarn I’ve used).

The Luna Moth shawl requires 650 yards as written, and I think it’s gorgeous. Since your yarn is smaller, you could just add a few repeats to make it bigger.

Swallowtail is a very pretty shawl and uses only 400+ yards. I also bookmarked a site where someone enlarged it.

Check out knitspot — Anne Hanson has designs for just about any length of yarn.
I am currently doing the Japanese fan stole (700 yds) it’s just lovely, and fast and relatively easy to knit. I’m enjoying it very much

I had this debate earlier with the exact same yarn (same color even). I finally went with the melon shawl. I’m loving it so far, it’s a very easy repeat, not sure I will feel the same when I finally get to the edging :)

Check out Hamsa on Knitspots website. She just published it today. I think I may start it tonight because it’s easy. You could make it one repeat wider.
