I finished the two projects that I started for this kal at the beginning of the month. This posting, I’ll try to get the pictures in so you can see what I did.
The first project was two hand towels which I created lace edging for. The yarnis a lace weight hand dyed tencel yarn that I have had for a while.

The scond project is a mohair lace scarf. The yarn is Karabella’s lace mohair and the pattern is basically their Diagonal Knit Scarf by Nancie M. Wiseman. However, I had to add my own stamp to it and so I added a small ‘flower’ pattern to it in the center. Although it is a little hard to tell in the picture, the color is a very light pink - very femine and I think my niece will really like it (or I hope so).

I think they both came out pretty well. Now back to all the other projects (yes, they are all lace projects).

I got my yarn in for my Lyra!! It’s yummy!! I got 2500 yards of silk/wool from Josyln’s Fiber Farm in a Teal/Light Turquiose color. I decided that I really needed to swatch to make sure my 3’s were going to give me the fabric I wanted. One thing about me…… I hate to swatch!! So I decided that a scarf might be idea and since I had found a couple of knots in my skein (and I don’t do knots!! I cut them and go from there) I thought that would work. So I cast on a couple of scarves, didn’t like either one. So I just plugged in a couple of patterns that are my old standards and did a little with them….. no. So I decided I had some blue beads that would be pretty, so added beads. I’m halfway to where I think I’ll be stopping!!

I’m also on Clue 4 of the anniversary shawl…. but only like about 32 rows now. I’m still hoping to finish that this week. i’ve got the first ball finished, so at least 850 yards in now and probably another 1/2 ball to go!!

I cast on for some eyelet-rib socks using Lorna’s Laces Shepherd sock in the Mother Load color. Although this color is a lot lighter than I had expected I do like the way it is knitting up.
I have only recently discovered KnitSpot and I am in love with Anne’s designs. This is the start of Rivolo using some Handmaiden Casbah in the “Smoke” colorway. The yarn and pattern seem to be a perfect match so far, with the lace highlighting the subtle color changes of the yarn. Handmaiden yarns would be my other new obsession.

I would love to just relax and work on this but I have socks to knit… and some DIC Baby in a gorgeous red that will continue to haunt me until I cast on for the Loopy DIC KAL. It is hard work being a knitter!
I seem to be doing more thinking about lace than knitting of lace lately, but I hope that’s about to change. This is my second attempt (the swatch lied…badly) at the Vine Lace Cardigan from A Gathering of Lace. I only have a few rows of the back done so far. The yarn is Sirdar’s Snuggly Baby Bamboo, which although splitty, I’m liking. I’m using a 1.75mm (US00) (gasp! yep, very loose knitter over here) needle and still not on gague, so I’m cutting out repeats as necessary to get the sizing right…which means more math than I really wanted to put into this project, alas.
Finished last night and here she is modelling by the lakeside at our house. I was hoping for some sunshine but nope. The pattern is called “crest of the waves” and it is free on ravelry. I used one skein of the knitting goddesess dk weight 100% silk. The scarf measures about 1,8 meters and 20 cm.
edit: finally some sunshine…

Maybe I have finally figured out what I have been doing wrong and will be able to post now.
I am casting off the lace garter…just about half done. If this post goes thru, I will take pics tomorrow and try to post about my efforts on this project.
I want to get back to working on my Orkney Pi, I have about 3 rows of diamonds done…long ways to the finish and I want to do the whole pattern. More about that later.
I am just waiting on my beads to arrive…I will be ready for the SOSiii. I am using a beautiful 100% merino wool purchased from Colourmart and am not sure about the needle yet as I haven’t done the swatch; am waiting for the beads to arrive.
Here’s hoping this works today.

I absolutely loved knitting these socks!

Spring Forward from the Summer Knitty in SWTC TOFUtsie sock yarn.
I finished my pair of Hedera socks today. The pattern is by Cookie A and the oh so wonderful yarn is by Misti Alpaca. I think I’ll have to visit the yarn store to see what other colors they have.
