Ok, while I still haven’t tried recasting on my raspberry scarf, I come check out the web site to stay inspired.  All the work going on is so wonderfully impressive!  Anyway, only laundry on the to do list for tomorrow, so I . . . → Read More: Still not started! Read more »

Re-casting on

Well, I finished my first chart one on Icarus and found a mistake a could not figure out, so I ripped it all out.  I have my kids trained not to talk to me when I am doing lace, if only my husband would quit talking to me!  Oh, well, I have just chalked it up . . . → Read More: Re-casting on Read more »

lacy hair tamers

For a small project the lace was more complicated than I had anticipated. Every row was different so I always had to look at the chart. There were double yarn overs and strange things like k2tog, followed by a k3tog or three ssks together.

The yarn is a bit more muted than the pictures show. I really . . . → Read More: lacy hair tamers Read more »

Back to the shawl

I was able to work on my Anniversary shawl for a bit this evening and I’m now halfway through clue 2 pattern A.  I had hoped to finish this clue today as the next clue will be released tomorrow, but I didn’t quite make it. Oh well, I’ll just work some more in . . . → Read More: Back to the shawl Read more »

Negative Progress?

I finally decided on my 1st project for SOL: the Mystic Meadows shawl by Anna Dalvi (http://knitandknag.blogspot.com/), using some 100% silk I found in Kyoto a few years ago. OK, vital statistics: I’m knitting a Fern Lace Wrap (scarf), in Lana Gatto Tollegno yarn, an 80% wool 20% cashmere blend I found on sale. Truthfully, the yarn started the project; I had 2 skeins and asked Whichy, “what can I make with this?” She suggested lace and I laughed in disbelief at first, but here . . . → Read More: So far so good Read more »

Progress on Mystery Shawls

Here’s a shot of anniversary Mystery Shawl 1, Clues 1 and 2 C:

I’m actually not thrilled with this one, but I’m hoping I’ll like it when it’s blocked. I’m not taking it out, that’s sure. I think the fine laceweight cashmere doesn’t give enough definition to the pattern, unlike Anniversary Mystery Shawl 2, Clues 1 . . . → Read More: Progress on Mystery Shawls Read more »

Ready to Start – Finally!

Okay, I’m revved up and ready to knit for a Season of Lace.  I wanted to be fair and start and a logical place in my knitting.  I’m currently working on the Slow Bee I lace shawl (I guess I’m slower than a Slow Bee though).  Anyway, I had 4 lines to go to finish Clue . . . → Read More: Ready to Start – Finally! Sort of a pattern

I got sidetracked from other projects this week when I was asked if I would teach a course later this summer on using beads in lace. So I decided to write a simple pattern that I could knit and use for the course. Barbara Walker is my best friend for these kinds of things and I . . . → Read More: Sort of a pattern Read more »
