So you can all sleep soundly in your beds tonight
I know you’ve all been worrying wether I’m going to run out of yarn after my post yesterday. Well I can put you out of your misery, this ball is like the magic porridge pot, it’s just not getting any smaller. I did the 5th repeat today, and I think there will even be enough for another repeat before I start the new skein. I’ve slung it round one shoulder unblocked and even unblocked it’s an ok length, could be longer but still wearable so I think when it’s blocked all will be well!Â

Woohoo!! Do you tend to knit faster when you think you are going to run out of yarn?? It’s a stupid thing I do all of the time! Like I’m going to outknit the yarn! ;0)

That’s funny!

I’m glad that you are going to have enough to complete your project. I hate it when I under estimate the yardage. I’d rather over estimate and have some left over. Especially if it’s a rare yarn that you cannot buy more of. I usually end up with more than I need just because I over-compensate for the fear of being short.
I am normally the queen of over estimation! However there were only 2 skeins of this yarn dyed. In theory I should be about 40m over, the pattern called for ~800m, my 2 skeins totalled 840m. Who knows what’s going on, as I don’t think it’s going to be massively shorter than the pattern which says 21 repeat, I think I’m likely to do about 12???? Pattern suggests lace to light fingering and the yarn is light fingering so I thought I might have to stop one pattern repeat early….. Who knows, it’s going to be big enough and that’s all that matters and the beauty of lace is I can just knit until I run out!
The next project is using a cone which I have 350g of, I don’t think I’ll be having the same problem!
Thank you! I was exhausted after not sleeping last night!!! Actually, I didn’t sleep much last night because I was working on a lace project!!!
I hadn’t noticed that you were working from a center pull skein (or whatever it’s called)–of course the yarn wrap on the outside of the skein is a lot longer than the yarn wrap on the inside. What you thought of as half gone was probably more like a third. Cool!
That’s great! Keep us posted with the rest of the shawl.
