International Shawl borderThe Saigon ScarfSo I’m making progress on the Saigon Scarf by badcatdesigns. It’s made with hand spun yarn, fiber from Spritely goods in colorway “Palo Verde” 2 ply spun on a Majacraft Rose using the lace flier and fat-core bobbins.  It has merino, alpaca, firestar and angelina for sparkle.  This pattern has beads knit in and is quite pretty. I’m about 1/3 way done. I’ve also made progress on the border for the “International Shawl” which is to be a gift for a co-worker who is going to retire. The border has estonian leaves at the bottom and Madiera and Diamond lace at the top. Now for the edging.

      Dear dplantlady,

Heck no! I had already started the Saigon Scarf and had already knit the bottom. I only added part of the center section yesterday. Since it was less than 50% done it might be considered a “legitimate” part of the KAL if I wanted to be in a raffel. As for the International Shawl, it does not qualify for any raffel or prize since it is just my normal knitting that I’m posting progress on. I’m using the KAL to finish off some of my already-in-progress lace projects so I can get a little inspiration to finish :-)

      Dear quiltmomoffive,

I love the color and the glitz as well. It as a huge sparkle factor when it is in the sunlight which you can’t see by the photo. It is the first fiber I ever spun with sparkle in it but I love how it came out and bought more from the same person. Spritely Goods. It’s also the first time I’ve knit beads into something. I’ve made beaded purses but those beads are all pre-strung, not added with a crochet hook.
