Finally picked my project!!
I am generally the queen of indecision, so I have been waffling back and forth between about 100 projects that are in my Rav queue. But today I found the ONE!!! I even started swatching. I am going to knit the Queen Anne’s Lace Shawl. Wish me luck!
I am already deeply puzzled - looking at the yarns compared to the size of the needle recommended doesn’t seem to make much sense. There are a lot of projects up on ravelry but they are all using needle sizes that seem enormous. If I knit Zephyr 2/18 or Gentle on a 7 or 8 it seems like it would be more hole than knitting.

When you do your swatch, just switch needle size until you have a look you like. Having said that, I never swatch lace. I just start the project and hope I don’t have to rip. How’s that for expert advice?
I like a little body / stability to my lace. That said, I generally like Zephyr knit on about a size 5 needle. However, that means a smaller shawl or extra rounds - ugh!
I love that pattern - best of luck with it - I’ll anxiously await photos.
Thanks for the pattern link. It’s a lovely pattern. I’ve noticed that large needle size too (I’m a beginner lace knitter) and I keep downsizing the needles when I cast on. I guess it doesn’t really matter but I’ve had a hard time controlling the yarn with the not very pointy ends of my larger needles.
I love that pattern. What yarn/color are you planning on for the shawl? I tend to like a little firmer lace so that means I would generally knit with smaller needles or a slightly heavier weight yarn.
Right now I am busy swatching - Currently I have swatched - a “juniper” (light teal) Zephyr 2/18, Dark blue Gentle Cash/merino, and Purple Valley Yarns Alpaca Silk.
