Well, I figured out how to get photos onto Flickr, so they are available, but I can’t seem to get them to hook up to this site, even though I’m following the directions as carefully as I can. Any ideas?
I did cast on a warm-up project today, and am about to wind another ball of yarn for the mystery shawl. the first clue came out today, but I am doing a test swatch, so the real thing will count for this KAL.
Have you seen this page? http://seasonsoflace.acolorfulyarn.com/posting-comment-help/ it might help – if it doesn’t please email me (through the contact form on the site) and describe what you are doing that isn’t working and I’ll do my best.
When you post a picture on Flicker, you go the the secton called “Photo stream” and click on the picture you want to post. It will take you to a larger version of the picture. Just above the picture are some options. Click on the one that says “all sizes” and has a little magnifying glass with a “plus” sign in it. This takes you to a section that gives you the picture yet again. Above the picture are size options (square, thumbnail, small medium and original). Click on the size you want and it will be displayed. Now scroll down. You have two options. Pick option # 2 which is to grab the URL. Using your mouse. Right Click to highlight the URL and then Right Click to COPY. You can now go to the areas to post and click on the “Add Media” picture and enter your URL and give it a title. Hope that helps!
Hi , I tried what lacefreak said to do, and the same thing happened, which is this: I enter the url, then nothing–I get a blank screen and everything stops. Before I was almost certainly using the wrong URL, but now I think I’m doing the right thing.
On a separate issue, Flickr says that the photo must link back to its photo page, and says to use option 1, which is the html. Is there a problem with that, or do you have a way of dealing with that?
the link for your picture should look something like: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3025/2578283958_dfb219a43e_m.jpg
I am not sure about flickr’s rules, Copying option 1 gives me this result:
To use the code that you get in option 1 – don’t use the add media button in the posting interface – you can only do that if you had copied the URL in option 2.
This gets a bit more complicated – in the Write Post interface you have the option to use the Visual editor or the HTML editor. To use the code you will need to change to the html editor and paste your code in where you want it in your post, then you can switch back to the visiual editor to configure it better.
unfortunately it won’t let me show you the code – but if you are getting code that starts with a < and an a href that is what I was showing.
Thanks. I’ll try again!
Hi – I just browsed onto your page, so pardon me butting in with my 2cents worth. I am a happy flickr user and linking also works fine for me. All the suggestions above are spot on and in addition to them I suggest you also check your privacy settings for the photo you want to link to. If it is not set to “public” then the link won’t work.
Again my apologies for interrupting. I hope you get to post your designs- I’m sure they are lovely.
