Okay, I’m really new at this. I’m used to posting on Ravelry and hoping this is the same sort of thing.
I’m looking forward to June 21 when I’ll cast on Evelyn Clark’s Southwest Shawl. Finished her Pacific Northwest Shawl last year (took 2+ years to spin the yarn and knit–but I didn’t have a KAL to encourage me)
The thing l love about lace is that I absolutely cannot think about anything else while I’m following a pattern. As a member of my tiny town’s city council, it’s a welcome respite from politics!
Right now I’ve got three lace WIPs to warm up with: a summer shawl with my hand spun merino, silk and angelina. 2. A cat’s paw pattern shawl (Spin Off called it Dog’s Paw, but it looks close enough…) with my hand spun alpaca and silk and 3. An Estonian lace pattern from Piecework made with my spun buffalo roving and plied with embroidery thread. Maybe I should finish one of them?
Any other spinners out there?
Hi!
I’m a fellow spinner here. Are you in NWRSA? From your title it sounds like you are in Oregon. I’m in Richland, WA so maybe not too far away. I’m planning on spinning some buffalo down for the Heartland lace KAL on Ravelry (I’m littlelena). I hope to knit a few other hand spun items but I’m not sure I will have the time to get much lace weight spun!

Hi Monica!
I live in Southern Oregon about 30 min. south of Eugene in Oakland. I’ve heard of NWRSA but I don’t know much about them.
I loved spinning buffalo. It was much easer than I expected. The Heartland Lace pattern looks really cool and I love the idea of having much of the pattern based on buffalo hoof prints. Good luck on the KAL!
After all my talk about hand spinning, I think I’m going to do my Seasons of Lace project with commercial yarn — good thing there aren’t spinning police
