Peculiar…

If I click on:

Create a Summer of Lace Post

I get an error and can’t post. But if I click on site admin, I can post. I probably shouldn’t be able to get into the site admin as just a participant, no? But then, I wouldn’t have been able to do what I’m doing now!

May I ask, please, why we aren’t to put pictures in posts?

Alternatively, how would one link to the groups flickr page?

Thanks,

Diane

I’m sure that our Webmistress will look into the posting problem.

But as to putting pictures in posts…

We DO want you to put them there!! We just can’t host them. There are nigh onto a hundred of you — so far — and we just don’t have the server space to host all of the pictures we hope to see. The only way we could afford to host your pictures would be to charge you to play in Seasons of Lace — and we totally do not want to do that!

So… we ask that you upload your pictures to your own photo hosting zone (flick’r, photobucket, google Picasa, etc.). Then, to insert a picture here, you just click on the wee photo icon (or click on add media), and type (or paste) the url of the photo you want to share into the space where it asks for that.

Voila… lots of pictures, without running us out of server space before August!

    :-)

(P.S. Oh Divine WebMistress (Whichy)? If I got this wrong, will you please correct me? Thanks!)

    AHA! I see…

    Thanks!

But…how would one link to the groups flickr page? Do we just “share with a group” on our own project pages?

I am not a flickr expert - but there is a way to share a picture with a group and it will send your picture over to our flickr group.

But for putting it in a post - Shadow Dancer pretty much has it.
Once you upload your picture to flickr (or whatever other hosting service you’ve got), all you need to do is right click on the picture and choose “Copy Link Location” and it will put the URL to the picture in your clipboard. You can then paste it into the “add media” interface when you are creating a post.

And to why the link on the sidebar doesn’t work:

I make a decent Webmistress, but apparently not a decent typist or proofer. There is a typo in the link that I will go fix right now.
