I’m excited to participate in Seasons of Lace KAL – I haven’t done a KAL before. I’m not much on planning, but think it would probably be a good idea to have some ideas before starting, since I can lose 4 hours on ravelry without noticing. So, I’m looking for some lovely lace sock pattern recommendations, and I feel quite certain that some of you out there have favorites
Also, I think I’d really like to make a shawl-type thing, but I’m in Louisiana, and it’s hot, and wearing shawls aren’t really my thing, and it’s hot, and not too many people around here wear shawls either so it probably wouldn’t make a great gift. I made a “Leafy Lace Stole” about a year ago, and it has sat neatly folded on the back of my couch ever since. Any suggestions on shawl-like (from a knitting perspective) but not shawl -like (from a wearing perspective) articles of clothing?
Can’t wait to see what you guys think!
Hi,
I’m from south la (nola) too, and I think shawls and stoles of lace are great for over airconditioned places, and for the fall and winter months. I need several for work, actually. So some people you know might like them for that?
A lacy bolero or short sleeved sweater is good for the cooler seasons too, I think.
Also, you could do some lace curtains, or table cloth. Lacy linen guest towels?
Just a few ideas
A lace shawl out of something like tencel is lovley, and just right for over air conditioned places. It’s not WARM exactly, but it does make a soft layer to block the chill. And the drape is just wonderful. (I knit my variation on Icarus out of tencel. I love how it hangs and moves).
As for lace socks. I designed a lace sock pattern last year for Just Our Yarns. It’s called JOY Lace Socks… and is on Ravelry, or you can get it from my page (http://shadowdancer.typepad.com/blog/fiber-dancer-designs.html).
You could knit lacy camisoles or tanks for the summer! There are some lovely ones out there.
Diane
Oh, I hadn’t thought of camisoles, but that is something I’d actually wear. Thanks!
